[ yeah... he can't say hans being kind of a creep during that trial was not a factor.
he nods. ]
That's pretty much what it came down to for me. I knew if the real killer did it, there was a good reason for it and we just didn't have the story right. I wasn't willing to sacrifice someone I trust to be a decent person and support people, so I sacrificed someone I didn't really trust with that instead.
[ shakes his head. ]
Feel like a big damn hypocrite given what I've been fightin' for back home, but if we had to do it over again and we still didn't have any leads on Satan's case, I'd do the same thing.
I feel bad for Adlet... he knew that guy, and I guess maybe understood him better than us all. But...
[ she just reaches out a hand to gently put it on his arm. because yeah. yeah. ]
Everyone who voted for him should consider themselves a hypocrite... myself included. I should be the last person sentencing someone to a guilty verdict when they didn't do it.
[ he smiles a little at the touch. yeah, she probably is in a pretty similar place in this situation. ]
You and me both. At the same time, there was no good answer either. It was still gonna be sentencing someone who didn't set out to hurt anybody to death. If they'd just do lesser charges and lighter sentences when they're justified we wouldn't be in this situation.
[ ... ]
But yeah. Adlet's probably the thing I feel worst about. 'Cause I've seen how much false convictions hurt the people left behind, too. And while I may have had mixed feelings on Hans, Adlet's a good kid. Especially after suggesting him at one point last week... I really didn't wanna hurt him.

[ shuts her eyes. sometimes you do not have time for men who rate you and won't fucking shut their goddamn mouths. ]
I had an idea of at least one of the people who did it, and I guess I wasn't really willing to vote for 'em either...

Best thing we can do, I guess... is just be there when he needs us. It sucks, but it's all we really have control over at this point.
Feels like I went from one jail to another bigger jail with a fuckin' murder schedule.
