Being heroes in this place means a lot less than we were told it does... I think.
[ she just cuts this sandwich in half triangle-wise and then cuts a tip off to offer it to shame... here you go bud. ]
Figure out how to better divide our time between multiple cases? Settle with the reality of what we know and move on to try and solve what we don't? [ scrubs face tiredly. ] It's no good if we leave one case hanging... people grasp for straws.
At this rate, I don't think they really know what the word "heroes" means. Nothing about this has ever been heroic. [ the cocoa puff sniffs the sandwich and immediately chomps on it. there's a flash of very white glowing sharp teeth, but it doesn't bite her. ]
This happens every time. We start to get a lead on one case, but we leave the other case behind. It's like...maybe what we should do is if we're looking at someone's body, we should go back to a place that has some evidence that might be relevant to the other person. So we're working on them equally and one case isn't outpacing the other.
[ very good cocoa puff. she will take a piece for herself. ]
Have to sort out the evidence first at the very beginning then, make sure we know what's from what case somehow. 'Specially when... [ a beat. it's not "if" anymore, it's happened multiple times ] we find a body on Friday.
[ man. ]
But that should help. It's hard, but we do have to give both attention... saves us from having nothing else to turn to when we need it most. [ looks away.................. ]
Don't you mean bodies. [ listen he's always here to make it work and be more realistic. ] Sorting the evidence first is a good idea if we can piece together what evidence might go to what case to begin with. It's harder when it's something that overlaps.
It's something we can try next time. Maybe then we'll have a little better luck making things work out the way we want them to.
That was a different case. I think what happened with Chiemi is enough to ensure we'll be a lot more diligent in our searches next time. We don't have enough time to waste.
You got that feeling too, huh? It's a fake title as far as I'm concerned, because what are we really doing that's heroic besides making up our own villains and applying a false sense of justice? I think the worst part is how the citizens here seem to be watching everything we're doing, good and bad.

Mmm... hoping people don't get weirdly ambitious about this kind of bullshit. Feels like despite "being heroes" we don't actually mean much.
